The Rediscovery
The Rediscovery of Human Technology was a series of archaeological and scientific discoveries that took place in northeastern Menaiceraum, especially in what is now Sern, Nukanata and the Prins Federation, marking the beginning date of the Prins Calendar at 1 AR.
Dates after the Rediscovery are labelled in English as "AR", and dates before as "BR."
Initial Discoveries
Before the Rediscovery, knowledge of the existence and power of Humans was well known throughout Menaiceraum. However, in the more than two million years since their extinction event, most remains from Humanity were fossils, long-buried evidence of roads and cities, the Mirrors, and various Spires and other structures occasionally visible on the surface.
In the summer of 1 AR, an Ancient Serndish mining company was engaged in strip-mining looking for deposits of lead when they stumbled upon what they thought was a massive vein.
Soon after mining began, a large section of the hillside caved in, exposing a large, semi-spherical cavern. Within this cavern, the miners discovered a treasure trove of ancient relics in the most pristine condition yet found in known history up to that point.
These included power sources, aircrafts, weapons, signal transmitters, screens, and much more.
Subsequent Discoveries
Following the breaking news of the first massive discovery, a frenzy ensued to follow the geographic patterns and other signs from the first site's location to hopefully find more. It took three years before the next discovery, which was nearly as impressive as the first. From then on, discoveries increased in frequency. By 20 AR, over 177 Human-Era "Bubbles" had had artifacts excavated.
Reverse Engineering
The following human technologies were retrieved in working or near-working order from the Bubbles:
- Circuitry
- Batteries
- Guns and Bullets
- Electric Lighting
- Aeronautical Vehicles
- Gas Combustion Engines
- Radio and Infrared Transmitters
- Rubber
- Plastics
- etc.
Once the science of electricity was fully comprehended, the reverse-engineering of several of these technologies began quickly, funded especially by the various royal houses of the region.
By 200 AR, most of these technologies were replicated in working order (though of much lower complexity at first) in factories constructed for these purposes.
These technologies gradually spread across the Western Continent, first by commerce and then by production and further archeological discoveries.
Global Impact
The Rediscovery is perhaps the most significant event in the history of Pups' civilization since the settling of the global climate from the wet period that preceded the main waves of continental migrations.
